Disability pension

You are entitled to disability pension, if you are under 63 years of age and your work capacity has reduced considerably due to an illness for a minimum of one year. A full disability pension is usually preceded by a sickness allowance of 300 days paid by Kela.

Partial disability pension can be granted if you are still able to do part-time work. You can apply for a preliminary decision. A partial disability pension is 50 % of the full pension.

Discuss your possibility to receive a pension with your attending doctor and request for a B statement to attach to your application. Fill in the electronic application carefully. You will receive a written decision on your right to pension. If it is estimated that your capacity to work could be restored, you can receive a fixed-term rehabilitation benefit or partial cash rehabilitation benefit. Your chances for vocational rehabilitation are always examined before a decision on disability pension is made.
