Varma magazine puts young people in the spotlight
This year’s first issue of Varma magazine was published on the 7th of March. It offers a range of articles aimed at experienced and new entrepreneurs alike.
The impressive Varma magazine is full of useful information and thought-provoking interviews. The first issue strongly focuses on young entrepreneurs and start-ups. Rapidly growing companies that have been around for just a few years account for a significant proportion of all new jobs. The open-minded and enthusiastic attitudes of young entrepreneurs set a good example also for more established companies. Young entrepreneurs must also, however, remember to recharge their batteries once in a while, as Slush Helsinki’s CEO, Riku Mäkelä, points out.
A new generation of employees whose working habits and attitudes differ from those of older generations has entered working life. In the magazine, the participants in a workshop organised by Varma, including young employees, experts in working life, and employers, present their views on how to improve well-being at work.
A great idea goes a long way, and with good planning, a company can grow profitably and globalise. LTP Logistics’ Matti Tuominen, Smarp’s Roope Heinilä and FinnCode’s Vesa Haapaniemi share their stories about their companies and offer helpful tips to entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneur Merja Metsävaara-Mildh talks about the benefits of networking. She produces promotional films in Helsinki and spends part of her time offering travel services and horseback-riding and tennis lessons at her manor in Mikkeli.
When should an entrepreneur hire their first employee? Experienced business advisor and Managing Director of EnterpriseEspoo Erkki Pärssinen gives us a concise and somewhat surprising answer to that question.
