Questions from rehabilitation applicant
Can I receive rehabilitation supported by Varma if my employment has ended or is about to end?
You may be entitled to rehabilitation even if you are not currently working; for example, if you are an unemployed job seeker receiving daily sickness allowance or the cash rehabilitation benefit. Check to see if you meet the conditions for receiving rehabilitation.
How long will it take until I receive a decision on my right to rehabilitation?
We will process your application usually in less than three weeks. Sometimes, in addition to a Medical Statement B, we require further information to support us in making a rehabilitation decision; for example, information from your employer about your job duties or about the possibility of rearranging your work.
I received a rehabilitation decision, what happens now?
If you did not submit a plan on returning to work along with your rehabilitation application, be sure to submit one while your preliminary decision is still valid (approx. 10 months). In your rehabilitation plan, describe the measures that would help you find work that is better suited to your current workability, either at your own workplace or in a new profession. Learn about the different rehabilitation options.
Who draws up the rehabilitation plan?
You draw up a rehabilitation plan together with your workplace and your occupational healthcare provider. Inform Varma of your rehabilitation plan at least two weeks before your rehabilitation programme, e.g. work trial, begins.
If you are unemployed and do not have a rehabilitation plan, Varma can hire the services of a career coach to help you draw up a rehabilitation plan, if necessary. Your initiative in drawing up a rehabilitation plan is the key to your success in returning to work!
How do I draw up a rehabilitation plan?
Once you know what your rehabilitation options are, draw up your rehabilitation plan and send it, along with any attachments, via Varma’s eServices for rehabilitants.
