  • An estimate of your YEL income and working hours

If you already have YEL insurance elsewhere, we will take care of the termination for you.

As a new entrepreneur, you will automatically receive a 22% discount on your insurance contribution from us for the first four years.

You need YEL insurance if

  • you are between the ages of 18 and 69
  • you work in your own company or as a light entrepreneur
  • your self-employed activities continue for a minimum of four months and
  • your YEL income, i.e. the value of your work input, is at least EUR 9,423.09 in 2026.

If your self-employed activities last less than four months, or if the value of your work input is low (less than EUR 785 per month in 2026), you do not need YEL insurance.

The price of YEL insurance depends on your YEL income. The YEL insurance contribution is a percentage of your YEL income. In 2026, the contribution percentage for YEL insurance is 24.40%.

As an entrepreneur just starting out, you automatically get a discount of 22% on your YEL insurance contributions for the first four years.

The YEL insurance contributions are fully tax deductible.

Take out YEL insurance starting on the day when your work actually begins (e.g. the first workday, when the first billable job begins or when your entrepreneurial activities start).

Your entrepreneurial activities have to be extensive enough so that your YEL income is at least EUR 785 per month, i.e. EUR 9,423.09 per year (2026).

The starting date of the insurance is not necessarily always the same as your company’s registration date if you do not begin working then.

The earnings-related pension contribution for TyEL insurance is based on the salary or wages you pay your employees.

Our TyEL insurance contribution payment methods are the immediate invoice and the consolidated invoice.

The immediate invoice is a good option if salaries and wages are paid once a month. We will send the invoice immediately when we receive the earnings data from the Incomes Register.

The consolidated invoice is the most sensible invoicing method if salary or wages are paid several times during one month. We send the invoice once a month for earnings data reported during a one-month period.

  • Old-age pension secures their income for the rest of their lives, after their career ends.
  • Partial old-age pension can offer them flexibility towards the end of their career.
