Options for solving payment challenges:
1. Changing your YEL income
If your work has decreased substantially, apply for a change in your YEL income right away.
YEL earnings cannot be changed retroactively, so don’t wait for your income to be reviewed at a later date. This will ensure that your YEL income corresponds to your current work input.
Apply for a change in your YEL income in the Varma Online Service: Log in > YEL insurance > Insurance information > YEL income and YEL contribution instalments > Apply for a change in YEL income.
2. Extended term of payment
You can easily apply for a payment extension before the due date. While the extended term of payment is subject to interest for late payment, setting up a payment plan is free of charge. Please note that we charge 40 euros for a late payment reminder.

Log in > YEL insurance > Invoices > Apply for an extended term of payment for your invoices.
3. Change in the due months for contributions
If your customers’ payment behaviour has become more unpredictable, you can extend your term of payment by changing the number of instalments and the due months of your YEL contributions.
Change the months when your payments are due in the Varma Online Service:
Log in > YEL insurance > Insurance information > YEL income and YEL payment instalments > Change contribution instalments.
4. Flexibility in YEL contributions
Applying for flexible YEL contributions allows you to pay 10 to 20 per cent lower YEL contributions for the current full year. Please note that after the flexibility option, your YEL income must be at least the minimum YEL amount.
