Your pension record tells you how your pension accrues

The earnings-related pension record shows you how your earnings-related pension insurance contributions accrue your pension. The record shows both your pension accrued to date and an estimate of your future pension. Checking your pension record regularly ensures that your information is up to date and that your pension accrues correctly.

Check the development of your own pension coverage from the pension record

By logging in to the Varma Online Service, you can check your pension record whenever it suits you. The record shows a summary of the amount of your accrued pension and an estimate of your future pension. The information in the pension record is based on the income and benefit data reported to the Incomes Register. We recommend that you make it a routine to check the information annually.

Which data is included in the pension record?

The pension record in Varma Online Service includes earned income and benefit data for the current year and the previous six calendar years. In addition, the record includes a calculated estimate that has data for your entire working career.

  • The pension record is updated almost in real time with regard to income, as the earnings information submitted by the employer to the Incomes Register is included in the record on the 8th day of the month following the payment month. 
  • An entrepreneur’s confirmed income information from the previous month is visible on the 1st day of the month. 
  • The pension accrued from different unpaid periods is updated on the record with a delay. The payers of benefits, such as Kela and unemployment funds, mainly report the previous year’s information in the register by 31 March.

Who receives a pension record?

A pension record is provided to employees aged over 17 and self-employed persons aged over 18 who have employment that has been insured pursuant to earnings-related pension legislation and for whom no pension has yet been granted. If you receive partial old-age pension and work alongside your pension, you can see your earnings data on the pension record starting from the year when your pension began.

As an employee or self-employed person insured at Varma, you can view your real-time information on Varma Online Services’ pension record at any time.

We mail pension records every few years to those who have not checked their data in the Varma Online Service. The pension record to be mailed is more succinct, as it will only show earnings information from the last six months. However, the information concerning the previous occupational history is stored and can be viewed on the electronic pension record.

Check and, if necessary, submit an enquiry

If the information on your pension record is correct, no actions are required from you.
If corrections are needed regarding your data for 2019 or later, please notify your employer. Your employer will then correct the data in the Incomes Register, from where they are updated to your pension record.

If you notice that information regarding years preceding 2019 is incorrect or missing, please submit an enquiry through our online service. We will help you to resolve the situation.
