Varma makes significant follow-on investment in the anti-drone solution provider Sensofusion

Varma is making a follow-on investment of approximately EUR 68 million in Sensofusion, a specialist in drone detection and counter-drone technology. Following its listing on Nasdaq Helsinki, the company will have a valuation exceeding USD 1 billion, attaining unicorn status.

Sensofusion is a fast-growing Finnish company specialising in drone detection and anti-drone solutions. Varma is one of the company’s cornerstone investors and made the additional €68 million investment as part of Sensofusion’s initial public offering.

In late 2025, Varma participated in a Sensofusion funding round in which the company raised approximately €45 million from investors to accelerate its growth and international expansion.

— Strong growth and an already profitable business make Sensofusion an exceptional company in the defence sector. Its outlook remains strong, and we believe it has the potential to become a major global player in its field, says Timo Sallinen, Director, Head of Listed Securities.

– When I began reaching out to potential anchor investors, my very first call was to Timo Sallinen at Varma. This reflects how much Varma’s support as an investor has meant to us throughout our journey. Varma combines the strength and long-term perspective of a major institutional investor with a straightforward approach and an ability to make swift, fact-based decisions. Its contribution to our success has been invaluable, says Tuomas Rasila, CEO of Sensofusion.

Varma has increased its investments in Finnish growth companies. Over the past five years, Varma has provided more than €1 billion in financing to Finnish growth companies.
