Transfer of YEL insurance

You can transfer your YEL insurance to Varma once it has been in force with your current pension company for at least one year, i.e. 12 months.

Insurance transfers take effect on one of four transfer dates each year:

• 1 January
• 1 April
• 1 July
• 1 October

For example, if your YEL insurance started with another pension company on 1 January 2026, you can transfer it to Varma no earlier than 1 January 2027. To transfer your insurance on that date, you must submit your transfer application to Varma at least three months in advance, by 30 September 2026 at the latest. 

The transfer process begins when you submit the transfer application to us. You can apply online or by phone at any time, provided you do so at least three months before the intended transfer date.

We will take care of everything else. We will handle the termination with your current pension company and notify you when your YEL insurance takes effect with Varma.

To ensure that your insurance can be transferred on your preferred date, you must submit your transfer application to Varma at least three months before the transfer date.

For example, if you would like your insurance to be transferred to Varma from 1 January 2027, you must submit your application by 30 September 2026 at the latest.

No. Transferring your YEL insurance is not tied to any banking or non-life insurance partners. You are free to choose your pension company independently.
