Who does the review concern this year?
YEL income that was previously confirmed in 2023 will be reviewed this year. The review is now being conducted for the first time on insurance policies that started in 2023, and for the second time for entrepreneurs whose YEL income was previously reviewed in 2023.
How does the YEL review proceed, and how should I prepare for it?
During the week of 11 May, we will send preliminary information through our Varma Online Service to entrepreneurs whose income will be reviewed this year. If you have never used the Varma Online Service before, we recommend that you start using it by 7 May 2026 at the latest to ensure that you receive the preliminary information.

If you start using the Varma Online Service later, you will see information about your next review year under Insurance information.
The actual income reviews will start at the turn of May–June and continue until October–November. We will inform entrepreneurs that a review has been conducted, and either that their YEL income was not changed, or that they will receive a YEL income recommendation from us.
You will receive documents related to the income review electronically if you have opted for the paperless service. Otherwise, we will be in touch with you by post. We will also send clear instructions along with the YEL income recommendation.

Has your situation changed?
If your work has decreased substantially, apply for a change in your YEL income right away. YEL earnings cannot be changed retroactively, so don’t wait for an income review. This will ensure that your YEL income corresponds to your current work input.
