If you are receiving disability pension, check your income limit
Your personal income limit will be stated in your pension decision.
- While on a full disability pension, you can earn up to 40% of your previous income level without your pension being suspended or changed into a partial disability pension.
- For partial disability pension, the income limit is 60%.
Regardless of your personal income limit, you may, however, earn 834.52 euros/month year 2020 without it affecting your pension. This earnings limit also always applies to Kela's disability pension. If you receive national pension, report your gainful employment to Kela. If you receive pension from abroad, please contact the foreign pension istitute.
If you do not know what your income limit is, you can get it from Varma or at our eService.
Could you try working above your earnings limit?
If your health improves to the extent that you could try earning above your earnings limit, you can suspend your pension. In this case, the payment of pension will be interrupted for a period of between 3 months and 2 years. If you continue working past 2 years, the pension will be altogether discontinued. If, however, you stop working or reduce the amount of your work such that your earnings fall below the limit, we will continue to pay your pension on your request.
If you have any questions about suspending your pension and about earnings limits, please contact Varma. Send a message on the Messages and attachments service, choose subject 'Disability pension'.
